How does it pick? It uses your browser’s cryptographic random numbers, and your list never leaves this device. See how picks are made

How to use it
Choose Number of teams or Max per team, set the number and press Make teams. The list is shuffled and dealt out, so the first teams get any extra person and no team is more than one person larger than another.
With Max per team, the number of teams is the list size divided by that maximum, rounded up. Thirteen people with a maximum of four gives four teams of 4, 3, 3 and 3.
What it does not do
Teams are random. The tool does not balance skill, keep certain people together or keep them apart. There are no hidden rules that place a particular person in a particular team.
Questions
What happens when the list does not divide evenly?
The extra people are spread one each over the first teams, so sizes differ by one at most.
Can I send the teams to a group chat?
Use Copy as text to paste the teams as plain text, or Copy result link to send an address that shows the same teams again.

- Is an online wheel spinner really random?Three things decide whether a wheel spinner is fair: where its random numbers come from, how they are turned into a slot, and whether the animation decides anything. Here is how Pickboard handles each.
- How to pick winners from a list without repeatsA short, checkable way to draw several winners from a list: clean the list, draw once, keep alternates, and share a link that replays the result.
- Ladder lottery (Ghost Leg): how it works and how fair it isA ladder lottery always gives everyone one result, but with a normal number of rungs people tend to land near where they started. We measured how much, and what fixes it.
